Hi Everyone!
Where did the fall go? Well, I'm just finishing the first semester of my second year of the new four year bachelor degree program in Jazz and contemporary popular music at Grant MacEwan University here in Edmonton, and I'm so ready for the holidays to begin! I'm feel so happy and privileged to be a part of such a wonderful program! Check it out! http://www.macewan.ca. I'm also really exciting to be singing at the Human Rights Awards Gala in support of the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights at the Sutton Place Hotel on Monday, December 10th!
I was so honoured to receive the "Jazz Album of the Year" award for my debut album, "Just the Sun", at the Edmonton Music Awards ceremony held at the Royal Alberta Museum on April 28 (see http://www.edmontonmusicawards.com.) You can check out a couple of the pics below to the right (click on the image to expand it!) That, together with the nomination I received in March for the 2012 'Mayor's Celebration of the Arts' Northlands Emerging Artist Award, made 2012 so special!
'Just the Sun' features 13 of my original songs, and is produced by WCMA Jazz Recording of the Year winner, Edmonton jazz drummer and Juno nominated Sandro Dominelli, and co-produced by Wes Inaba, director of Pure Artists. It's available on iTunes and CD Baby - and you can click the pic of my CD cover to the right to get it. Also, if you go to my Music page, you can listen to some clips from the CD and get the song lyrics! I'm posting some of the songs from the CD Release Concert up on Youtube, and a couple of those are below.
